History

Founded in the 1920’s, E.R. Snell has grown from six individuals to over seven hundred employees. We have expanded from a small, one-desk operation in E.R. Snell, Sr.’s home to its current multi-division operation with corporate headquarters in Snellville, Georgia and various divisions and asphalt plants throughout the state. Our operations have expanded from building rock culverts and walls, to bridge work, to the myriad of services we offer today.

A new generation of family members are at the helm today and we are excited about the future of the company. Scott Briscoe became President in January 2017 after more than twenty-three years of service at the company. After serving as President for over twenty years, Robin Snell continues to work and provide guidance as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and is integral in our various employee training programs as well as other facets of everyday business.

Mission & Values

E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. has conducted business accordingly for five generations with the highest standards of ethics that were set forth by E.R. Snell more than 90 years ago. ERS will continue to uphold these ethics and standards for years to come in every commitment that is made by the company.

Mission Statement

E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. was built on Christian beliefs with honesty and integrity leading the way. Our goal is to build a safe and modern highway system while preserving the natural environment. Through quality production and high safety standards, we strive to be the best contractor possible, while continuing to be a positive influence on our employees and our community.

Safety

Safety is a top priority at E.R. Snell. We understand the dangers of construction. We know that all accidents can be avoided with precaution and common sense. From orientation, to on-going training classes, to OSHA certifications, to safety videos, to daily hazard assessments, our employees are extensively trained. We also have a safety incentive program designed to reward safety practices.  While safety is the responsibility of all employees, E.R. Snell employs safety officers, charged with enforcing our safety regulations and ensuring that all employees are working in conditions that continuously monitor and uphold our stringent safety standards.

Heavy Equipment Precautions

When moving large and heavy loads at construction sites, there are many safety issues to be considered for operators of cranes and lifting devices, as well as employees that are working alongside these devices. ERS teaches precaution operating cranes with the use of blocks and tackles during this training session.

Loss Prevention & Risk Management

The Loss Prevention and Risk Management Manger inspects the tractor trailers for DOT Compliance and discusses Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration rules with our drivers.

Safety Training Director

The Safety Training Director conducts spot checks making sure that all crews discuss safety issues each week and is also able to translate the information to Spanish employees when necessary.

Safety Equipment

Many times workers enter confined workspaces that hinder them from entering, working in, and exiting the tight spaces. This safety tripod is placed over confined spaces, such as manholes, to quickly “wind up” workers in case of trouble.

Safety Training

ERS is continually conducting safety-training sessions to expand worker’s knowledge and awareness of safety hazards and how to prevent accidents on the job site.
