West Winder Bypass

The West Winder Bypass project for the Georgia Department of Transportation located in Barrow County kicked off November 2018. This project consists of 4.972 miles of widening and reconstruction split into two phases. It begins at Matthews School Rd extending to SR 211, and also begins at SR 316 extending to Matthews School Rd. This project includes roughly 176,000 square yards of concrete paving, moving roughly 540,000 cubic yards of dirt, placing 40,500 tons of asphalt, constructing 1 bridge over a railroad that has 7,225 linear feet of beams, and constructing 6 culverts. The project is expected to be completed in May 2021.
