Newton County – SR 12 / US 278 Widening

The Newton County SR 12/US 278 Widening project started in October 2017. This project not only includes nearly 2.5 miles of widening reconstruction, but also includes the construction of 2 new bridges and a roundabout. These two bridges are located on SR12/Highway 278 over the Alcovy River and the Alcovy River overflow with a total 6,867 linear feet of beams. There will be around 54,000 tons of asphalt placed on this project that will be produced at our Good Hope and Lithonia plants. The roadway reconstruction and bridges are projected to be completed in the summer of 2020.
