Gwinnett County – Jimmy Carter Blvd at I-85

E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. is proud to be partnered with the Gwinnett DOT and the Gwinnett Village CID to construct a specialized interchange at Jimmy Carter Blvd and I-85 near Norcross. This interchange will mimic the previously constructed “Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI)” on Ashford Dunwoody Road at I-285. The new DDI design uses the existing bridge more efficiently by shifting traffic to the opposite side of the roadway allowing smoother traffic flow. Our construction will begin on the south side of the bridge which will include bridge widening and various interruptions in the pedestrian traffic.

We will then shift to the north side of the bridge with further bridge widening and the associated construction necessary for improved pedestrian safety items. This unique construction will also necessitate the full closure of the entire bridge for a weekend to actually shift the traffic into its final configuration. E.R. Snell’s experience in this unique type of design allows our crews to construct a high quality product in the most efficient manner. Construction is expected to be completed in mid to late 2014.
