Construction of one of the largest projects in our business history is ongoing in Hall County. This construction will include a combined length of over 10 miles of roadway along I-985 and State Route 53 near Oakwood, Georgia. The Georgia Department of Transportation is funding the job at over $ 100 million which will enable the expansion of the interchange across I-985 and the roadway leading towards the Atlanta Raceway.

This project involves several aspects of our company including grading, base, paving, drainage, culverts, bridges and walls. Work opportunities are provided in the construction of approximately 1,300,000 cubic yards of dirt, 70,000 feet of pipe, 800 cubic yards of concrete culverts, 300,000 tons of stone, and 250,000 tons of asphalt. In addition, we will perform over $ 6,700,000 in reinforcing wall construction and $ 7,200,000 in bridge work. Our company has enlisted the help of over 30 subcontractors and haulers to provide other items of construction as necessary.

Several traffic shifts are involved in the working of the project and our traffic control crews continue to provide management of this very busy roadway. Currently, we have several E.R. Snell crews on the project with concentrations in bridge, wall, grading and concrete paving. Our completion is expected at the end of 2008 and our crews have been working very closely with the GDOT to keep the project on schedule.
